The superb soprano, Hazel Neighbour, overpowered the room with her majestic vocal prowess and exquisite stage presence
Hazel Neighbour is a lyric soprano based in London. This season she has joined the Glyndebourne chorus for their 2021 Tour, covered Mimì in La bohème for Mid Wales Opera and most recently has made her role and company debut with Ensemble Orquesta performing Ottavia in L'incoronazione di Poppea, opening the Grimeborn 2022 Festival.
The biggest mention goes to British-Irish soprano Hazel Neighbour, whose bitter portrayal of the tragic Ottavia is at some moments transcendent, pouring out the character’s pain into the air and letting it flow into the hearts of the spectators.
There is so much fine singing that once again I hesitate to pick out individuals but Hazel Neighbour as Ottavia fills her brief moments in the spotlight with glorious singing and righteous indignation
There are some outstanding voices among the rest of Ensemble OrQuesta, soprano Hazel Neighbour commands the stage with her Ottavia.
